Impressive debut

Although Mayuka Aparnatha is new to the showbiz scene here, his performance at the Chulpadmendra Catwalk Studio 2023 graduation ceremony, and the subsequent video that was posted on social media, caught the attention of many.

He was spotlighted singing ‘I See Red’ and ‘Rolling In The Deep’ at the graduation ceremony…and then it all happened!

His TikTok video of ‘I See Red’ got the attention of music producer Prageeth Kavindu and Danusha Pothupitiya, and, after the initial chit-chat, Mayuka shared some songs of him singing a cappella, over WhatsApp.

It was then decided that Mayuka do a cover version of ‘Salalihini,’ originally done by Prathap Eshwarage, as they all loved this particular song.

Says Mayuka: “I love singing and it’s one of the best skills I have and I must thank Prageeth and Danusha for making it all happen.

“I’m so happy the way this collaboration turned out, and we got a lot of positive feedback. I must also thank Prathap and Charitha Attalage, the original music producer, for welcoming this cover with an open heart and allowing me to cover it”.

Mayuka says he now has plans to launch himself as a solo singer, with a wide and varied repertoire of English, Sinhala, Hindi, and even Tamil songs.
