Imeth emerges victorious at National Scrabble Championship 2023

Imeth de Silva emerged victorious at the Sri Lanka National Scrabble Championship 2023 organised by the Scrabble Federation of Sri Lanka held at S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia recently.

Imeth secured victory in 17 out of 19 games, establishing a remarkable three-game lead over his closest competitor. As the Scrabble Captain at S. Thomas’ College in 2022, Imeth returned a year later to etch his name in the annals of the National Title. Adheesha Dissanayake emerged first runner up securing victory in 14 out of 19 while Thulnith de Silva ended as second-runner up with 14 victories.

The 20 finalists engaged in a grueling all-play-all format, vying for the coveted National Scrabble Championship title. Among the other contenders were the reigning World Youth Scrabble Champion, the 1st and 2nd Runner-ups from the recently concluded World Youth Scrabble Championship, the reigning Junior and Senior National Scrabble Champions, and former National Scrabble Champions, all of whom created an environment for an intense final, but Imeth won emphatically.
