IGP appointment formalized

The five-member Parliamentary Council yesterday approved President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s proposal to appoint C.D. Wickremeratne as the IGP. Wickremaratne has functioned as Acting IGP since he succeeded Pujitha Jayasundera who was sent on compulsory leave before retirement over his failure to thwart 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
