Humble appeal to President
We had a very high hope that you will bring all communities together, eradicating all differences existing among them, and we are still living with that hope. That is the only way we can bring prosperity to our beloved motherland. I need not mention the recent occurrences which have hit the headlines internationally. A frequent question I always face from other nationals living here, in the Gulf, is related to these and I very diplomatically avoid replying to them. It hurts us to hear any adverse remarks from others about our country. We are absolutely confident that you will bring back the good old fame and prestige of our country to maintain the good relation with our benefactors who help us with no strings, like some other countries do. Also a point we should seriously think is not to discourage the ever increasing inflow of tourists from this part of the world by our unpopular actions there. Winston Churchill said ‘If we open quarrel between past and present we shall find that we have lost the future.’ Dear Mr President we love our country dearly and we are going through a critical period and every community’s support is equally important and please give a sympathetic hearing to all – big or small. We trust you will do this for the sake of our motherland. Long live Sri Lanka!
