Thilina, Dinara, Gehansa win age group titles  

Tennis Nationals 2022 

Royalist Thilina Dissanayake and Dinara de Silva of St. Bridget’s Convent won the Under 16 boys’ and girls’ singles titles respectively and Gehansa Methnadi of Musaeus College clinched the trophy in the Under 14 girls’ singles of the Tennis Nationals 2022 continued at Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts continued on Sunday.

Dissanayake beat Vichinthya Nilaweera to clinch the Under 16 boys’ singles title. The top seed who reached the final after eliminating Lisal Goonetilleke with a thrilling 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 win in the semi-final recorded 6-1, 6-3 to win the boys’ final. Nilaweera was the second seed.

In the Under 16 girls’ singles final Dinara registered a 7-6, 6-3 win over Nesangi Hemakumara. Dinara was the top seed and reached the final after eliminating Ruvi Lewkebandara with a 7-5, 6-1 win in the semi-final

In a clash between the top two seeded players Gehansa Methnadi beat Githmi Fernando 6-2, 6-2 to win the Under 14 girls singles title.  Gehansa beat Venuli Jayasinghe 7-5, 6-3 to earn her place in the final.
