Sheru, who hails from the Maldives, and who is in the Maldives, at the moment, says that she misses Sri Lanka, and the music scene, in Colombo, very much.

The dynamic singer, who spends most of her time, in Sri Lanka, had a good thing going for her in the music scene here, performing with some of our top outfits.

And, when she launched her solo career, she was in great demand.

Unfortunately, the pandemic ended in all and Sheru left for the Maldives, where her brother is the Vice-President, to continue with her singing career.

She now performs at a tourist resort, along with a Maldivian keyboardist.

“We do six nights a week, and we give our clients a wide variety of music – from jazz and RnB to pop and rock.

“We have to be flexible, to create to the wide clientele that patronise the resort.”

Right now, it’s off season, in the Maldives, and with the current situation, the tourists scene is a bit slack, she said.

“I want to be back, in Colombo, soon, to get on stage and entertain music lovers. I do miss Sri Lanka a lot. Sri Lanka is my home.”

Sheru went on to say: “I also need to say a special thank you to you, and The Island newspaper, for keeping everyone informed of the latest showbiz happenings.

“Your music pages are certainly top of the pops.”
