HMS SPEY departs island
HMS SPEY of the Royal Navy, which arrived in Sri Lanka on 28th January 2024, departed the island today (31st January) on successful completion of her formal visit. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship in accordance with naval traditions at the port of Colombo.
Upon leaving, HMS SPEY engaged in a successful Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with SLNS Samudura. The PASSEX involved training exercises in communication and tactical maneuvering, concluding with the traditional cheer ship salute.
Port calls made by foreign naval ships play a crucial role in fostering collaboration among naval forces. Additionally, these visits facilitate naval exercises and training activities, allowing the exchange of knowledge and information about their unique maritime environments. Also, this exchange can be particularly beneficial in addressing shared maritime challenges.
