High Posts Committee approves five new appointments

Acting Secretary General of Parliament, Chaminda Kularatne, yesterday announced that the High Posts Committee had approved five new appointments, including a High Commissioner.

Accordingly, the Committee has approved the appointment of P.R.S. Goonawardena as the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Maldives.

The Committee has also approved the appointment of M.M.S.S.B. Yalegama as Secretary to the Non-Cabinet State Ministry of Plantation Enterprise Reforms.

The Committee also approved the appointment of S.C.J Devendra as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation.

The appointments of Prof. M.A.R.M. Fernando as the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka and J. M. Soosaithasan as the Chairman to the State Mortgage and Investment Bank was also approved by the High Posts Committee .

The Committee met in Parliament last week (10), under the Chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena. Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva, Keheliya Rambukwella, Members of Parliament Johnston Fernando, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Thalatha Atukorale, Udaya Gammanpila, Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle and Dharmalingam Siddharthan were present at this meeting.
