Sri Lanka’s collapse from the first ODI rolled right into this match, four of the top five falling for single-figure scores, the innings sputtering to 157 all out in the 42nd over, after the lower middle produced modest resistance.
Matt Henry set off the collapse for New Zealand by nicking Nuwanidu Fernando off, before getting Kusal Mendis for his second successive duck, in similar fashion. The best of the hosts’ bowlers, Henry finished with 3 for 14 from his 10 overs. Henry Shipley also claimed three wickets, as Sri Lanka’s batters struggled again with the bounce he generates. Daryl Mitchell claimed three wickets as well – all of them off mistimed attacking strokes.
Brief scores:
Sri Lanka 157 (Pathum Nissanka 57, Matt Henry 3-14,Daryl  Mitchell 3-32,Henry  Shipley 3-32) vs New Zealand
