Heavy showers likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North-western and Eastern provinces

Cloudy skies can be expected over most provinces of the island.
Showers will occur at times in Northern, North-central, North-Western, Eastern, Southern, Central and Uva provinces while showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in other areas of the island after 1.00 p.m. Heavy showers about 100 mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North-western and Eastern provinces.
Winds will be North-easterly and wind speed will be (25-35) kmph. Wind speed may increase up to (40-50) kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai and from Hambantota to Pottuvil can be rough at times. The other sea areas around the island will be fairly rough but the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Trincomalee via Galle and Hambantota can be rough at times with temporarily strong gusty winds up to (60-70) kmph during thundershowers.
The public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
