Heavy showers about 100mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts

Showers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and Northwestern provinces. Heavy showers about 100mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Eastern and Uva province and in Vavuniya and Mullaitivu districts during the evening or night.
Winds will be South-westerly and speed will be (30-40) kmph. Fairly strong winds about (40-45) kmph can be expected at times in the western slopes of the central hills, western, Northwestern and Sabaragamuwa provinces. Wind speed may increase up to (50-60)kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota and from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and may increase up to 50kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota and from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar will be rough at times while the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo will be fairly rough.
Increase of swell wave heights(about 2.0 -2.5m) can be expected in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
