Showery weather condition is expected to enhance over the island due to an atmospheric disturbance over the South-east Bay of Bengal Sea area.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Northern, North-central and Eastern provinces and at several places in other provinces of the island after 01.00 p.m. Heavy showers about 100 mm are likely at some places in Northern, Eastern, Central and Uva provinces.

Winds will be North-easterly. Wind speed will be (30-40) kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Puttalam, Kankasanthurai and  (20-30) kmph in the other sea areas around the island.

The sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Puttalam, Kankasanthurai will be moderate and slight in the other sea areas around the island but strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
