Health regulation violators beware New police programme to nab them

Thirty four more persons were arrested by the Police on Sunday for violating quarantine laws.

They had been arrested for not wearing face masks, not maintaining physical distancing, etc., police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He went on to say that 2,415 people had been arrested for violating quarantine laws since October 30, 2020, and legal action had been taken against 2,250.

Rohana also said that they were planning to implement a special programme to nab those who violated quarantine laws, from yesterday, in the Western Province.

“The government has specified how we should carry out various activities. When it comes to running an institution there must be a place to wash hands, to check temperature and to maintain an attendance register. We hope that companies will adhere to these guidelines. If the management and owners don’t facilitate these, they are also violating quarantine laws,.”

Rohana said that restrictions had been lifted in many parts of Colombo, and, therefore people might gather in public places.

“If health guidelines are not followed we might face many sub clusters,” he warned.
