Health Minister: Vaccination card will be mandatory from April
Minister of Health, Keheliya Rambukwalla yesterday told the media that the Cabinet had decided to make the vaccination card compulsory for people to enter public places.
The Ministry would define the public places, he said. “Once the term ‘public places’ is legally defined, people will have to carry the vaccination card to enter such areas.
Minister Rambukwalla said that the Ministry of Technology would introduce a mobile phone app and a QR Code for those who had been fully vaccinated. This will be done by 30 April 2022.
Once the app had been introduced and when the Ministry had decided on what public areas are, the Ministry would issue a gazette announcing its decision, Rambukwella said.
