Health Minister provides medical equipment to hospitals

The Ministry of Health has launched a project to provide essential medical equipment to countrywide hospitals under the Covid Control and Suppression Programme, a senior spokesman said.
Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Minister of Health yesterday (13) handed over 50 million rupees worth of essential medical equipment to eight hospitals in the Ratnapura District to tackle the spread of Covid-19.
The medical equipment was handed over to Kolonna Base Hospital, Eheliyagoda Base Hospital, Kalawana Base Hospital, Kahawatta Base Hospital, Pothupitiya Regional Hospital, Maratenna Regional Hospital, Godakawela Regional Hospital and Rakwana Base Hospital in the District.
In addition to these physical resources, the Ministry of Health has also initiated a programme to provide more human resources, including doctors and nurses to such hospitals.
A progress review meeting on hospital development activities in the Ratnapura District at a cost of Rs. 500 million was held yesterday (13) at the Ratnapura Provincial Council Auditorium under the patronage of the Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi
Governor of the Sabaragamuwa Province Tikiri Kobbekaduwa, Chairman of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Kanchana Jayaratne, Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena and other officials of the Ministry of Health, Sabaragamuwa Provincial Director of Health Services Dr. Kapila Kannangara, Provincial Secretary to the Provincial Council of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council were present on these occasions.
