Hasitha shines as St. Aloysius’ win

Hasitha Suranga hammered 86 runs in 54 balls (4x4s, 7x6s) to set the stage for St. Aloysius’ to record crushing 148 runs win over Zahira in the Under 19 Division I Tier ‘B’ limited overs tournament match, while Lyceum International, Wattala pulled off 28 runs win in a Division II Tier ‘A’ match on Sunday.

Suranga’s power hitting earned St. Aloysius’ some 72 runs in the last five overs as he put on an unfinished tenth wicket stand of 72 runs with Vishwa Indunil.

In their essay, Zahira had only Adhil Ismarly making an impression as he anchored the batting line up with an unbeaten half century before the home team were bowled out for 138 runs in the match played at Maradana. Mihiranga Nimsara was the pick of the bowlers for St. Aloysius’ as he took three wickets.

It was the opening encounter of Group ‘Z’ in the Division I Tier ‘B’ tournament. The other teams in Group ‘Z’ are Ananda, Dharmasoka, Thurstan and St, Sylvester’s.

In the Division II encounter at Wattala, a solitary half century by skipper Nilaksha Kasun was in vain for Holy Cross as Garuka Sanketh and Janith Tharushan restricted the visitors to 201 runs to record an important victory.
