SJB Kegalle District MP Kabir Hashim told Parliament yesterday that the government was trying to sell the historical Dawson Bungalow at Balana Road, Kadugannawa.

The Bungalow was used by Captain William Francis Dawson, who commenced the construction of the Kandy-Colombo Road during British rule in 1820 and died during the project.

Currently, the Bungalow is under the purview of the Road Development Authority.

The employees of the Bungalow complained that there was a plan to sell this historical building.

The place should instead be converted into a museum, the MP said.
