Hartley College host Rahula Matara for 4th edition of ‘The Battle of the Ends’ today

4TH MANIMARAN – WIJESIRIWARDENA TROPHY CRICKET ENCOUNTER

Hartley College Point Pedro will host Rahula College Matara for the 4th edition of the’ Battle of the Ends’ at the Hartley College groud today (8).The ‘Battle of the Ends’ is played for the ‘Manimaran – Wijesiriwardena Trophy’ in honor of the two sponsors Ramakrishnan Manimaran  and Lal Wijesiriwardena both illustrious cricketers of Hartley College and Rahula College who are now domiciled in Australia.

The first match in the series was hosted by Rahula College at the Uyanwatta stadium in 2017 and has been played continuously till 2019.Rahula lead the series three games to nil and Hartley having the advantage of playing on their home ground and a matting wicket will go all out to register their first win.

The annual encounter between Hartley College and Rahula College is organized jointly by the Hartlian Sports Club, the Old Boys Association of Hartley College, Rahula Old Cricketers Association (ROCA) and the Rahula OBA to foster friendship and goodwill between the two schools which are situated in the North and South most tips of the island.
