Harin raises alarm over Indians being given intrusive access to Lankan skies and waters
SJB MP Harin Fernando told Parliament yesterday that a latest Cabinet decision would allow Indian monitoring aircraft access over Sri Lankan skies and the establishing of a Maritime Rescue Centre to be run by an Indian company might drag Sri Lanka into a regional war.
MP Fernando said that the Cabinet had decided to allow Indian monitoring aircraft into Sri Lankan skies while an Indian company ran a Maritime Rescue Centre to be established at the naval headquarters. “This company will be able to use three drones and a floating dock in Sri Lankan waters. Sri Lanka runs the risk of getting involved in a regional war owing to these agreements as India will get the opportunity of controlling Sri Lankan waters and skies, while China controls the Port in Hambantota,” the MP said.
