Harin, Manusha move SC against SJB

Minister of Tourism Harin Fernando and Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkkara have moved the Supreme Court against their expulsion from the main Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).

The SJB expelled them after they received Cabinet appointments from the then President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on the invitation from UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Fernando was appointed on the SJB National List whereas Nanayakkara entered Parliament from the Galle district at the August 2020 general election.

The two Ministers have sought a declaration that they have not ceased to be Members of Parliament and that they continue to be and shall remain Members of Parliament.
