Halambage shines again as Petes record sixth win

Vishen Halambage scored his second century of the tournament as St. Peter’s registered their sixth consecutive victory to extend their unbeaten run in the Under 19 Division I Tier ‘B’ tournament at Bambalapitiya on Saturday.After St. Joseph Vaz’s last wicket pair put on 56 runs for them to post 182 runs in the 49-overs-a-side affair, Halambage cracked an unbeaten 117 for Petes to seal the victory with seven wickets to spare in the 31st over.

He scored 12 fours and five sixes in his unbeaten knock which came in 92 balls. Skipper Nimuthu Gunawardena added 37 runs after picking up four wickets. Halambage produced three wickets earlier.For St. Joseph Vaz’s, Janith Shehan was the standout performer as he took all three wickets to fall in the Petes’ innings.

Batting first the visitors were 126 for nine wickets at one stage before Shehan and Ravindu Thushara added a vital last wicket stand to reach their eventual total. Shehan scored an unbeaten 46 (in 48 balls), while Thushara contributed with nine runs (in 41 balls).In the matches played on Sunday, Richmond scored 38 runs victory against D.S> Senanayake according to Parabola Method.
