Guruge Elderly Care rewarded

Founder of Guruge Elderly Care Pvt Ltd Samitha Fernando won the Pinnacles Award as the Best Elderly Care Centre in 2022 and Social Worker of the year, held at Water’s Edge recently. He is the young social entrepreneur who is leading the way in a country with a backward and collapsing economy. A 24-years-old, who he stopped his university studies at the age of 21 and started Guru’s Elder Care Centre. The reason for the award was based on his social mission by providing excellent and kind service to his seniors, which has now expanded to eight branches.

Completing his studies at Horana Sri Medhankara Maha Vidyalaya, Horana Vidyaratne University Faculty, Panadura Saint John National School and Sabaragamuwa University Faculty of Engineering Technology, it is a remarkable fact that he decided to become an entrepreneur at a young age. The courage to take risks to conquer life will be well demonstrated in him. Indeed, he is a great role model for today’s society. Although there are many elderly care institutions, as an entrepreneur at a young age, he has provided love, mercy and care to about one hundred and fifty elderly people in his institution and provided jobs for about thirty people. Samitha received the award as the best Elderly Care Centre and the award as the youngest social entrepreneur of the year.
