Govt. to strength nursing staff, interviews begin on Jan. 13

The Health Ministry has received over 4,000 applications from those who sat for the GCE Advanced Level examination in Mathematics and Science streams in 2019/2020 seeking to join the nursing service.

A Health Ministry official yesterday (17) said that interviews would be held from January 13 to February 18, 2024 at the Ministry and nursing training colleges.

Health Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana is said to have given instructions in this regard following a discussion he had with senior officials to explore ways and means of improving the overall services.

The official said that all details regarding this would be posted on (https://www.health.gov.lk/) on Dec 27.The nursing staff consists of approximately 45,000 females and males. About 6,500 are currently receiving training at nursing colleges.
