Govt. extends loan scheme to 5000 A/L qualified students to pursue private higher education

Students who have passed the GCE A/L examination and are desirous of enrolling at private universities can apply for an interest-free student loan scheme from Tuesday (04) to Friday (07), according to State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.

The State Minister told the media on Monday that the government was planning to select 5,000 eligible students for the loan scheme, and they had to follow job-oriented courses.The interest-free bank loans amounted up to Rs 1.1 million each are provided by state-owned banks.
