‘Govt. ensures institutional independence’
Nimal Lanza, State Minister for Rural Roads and Other Infrastructure, said that the present government does not influence the police and the judiciary as well as good governance and has allowed those institutions to function independently.
State Minister, Nimal Lanza expressed these views while participating in a bridge project held at Dickowita, Wattala recently.
Speaking further State Minister said,
‘The perpetrators of the Central Bank fraud as well as the Easter attack will be punished according to the law of the country. Political revenge is not carried out like good governance. People like Azad Sally are trying to gain political advantage by expressing various extremist views and obstructing national unity. All citizens of the country must abide by the law of the country. If anyone is violating the law of the country, the law must be enforced against them. Such parties must be defeated politically as well. The present government will never allow extremism to be nurtured.
‘We remember that the previous government of good governance obstructed the police and the judiciary and pressured those independent institutions to gain political advantage. President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa or this government will not exert any influence on those institutions. The commission report on the Easter attack has been submitted to the Attorney General. Accordingly, we are confident that he will take further action there’.
State Minister, Nimal Lanza further stated that the aim of the government is to enforce the law against the perpetrators of the Central Bank bond fraud and the Easter attack.
