Govt. blamed for causing clock towers disappear

Clock towers in the towns were being removed surreptitiously at night by local government officials all over the country and that indecent act should be stopped immediately, Chief Opposition Whip Kandy District MP Lakshman Kiriella told Parliament yesterday (23).

“The clock tower in Kadugannawa has been removed by the urban council officials. It was built by former President Ranasinghe Premadasa. Is it that the clock towers in towns are the main problem facing this government? We have information that clock towers all over the country are being removed. It is done at night. We condemn this despicble act. We bring this to the notice of Minister Chamal Rajapaksa.” (SI)
