A Cabinet proposal has been presented by Agriculture and Plantation Industries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, aiming to cut the cost of Muriate of Potash (MoP) fertilizer by half.

Minister Amaraweera mentioned this while launching the development of Omara village in Walasmulla, which is part of the second-stage agribusiness village initiative on Sunday.

It is anticipated that this Cabinet proposal will undergo review and approval by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Currently, the public sector fertilizer companies hold a stockpile of 28,600 metric tons of MOP fertilizer, according to the Minister.
