Gnanasara Thera asks govt. to respect Muslims’ right to burial

Burial was the absolute right of Muslims and they believed in the Quranic saying “From the earth We created you, and into it We will return you’, said Ven. Galabodatte Gnanasara Thera recently addressing the media.

“They are demanding their right to burial and nothing else. But the politicians are trying to create a nightmare similar to July 83 using the burial issue. They say Buddhists monks are opposing burial and we ultimately earn the hatred of Muslim community. We have never been consulted on this. There is an experts committee. What are the qualifications of the members? Who are the doctors in it?” Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera has said.

Islamic extremist groups have used this opportunity to align with traditional Muslims for a common cause. The government has enabled the Muslim extremists, the CIA and the Opposition promote their agenda. Tamils issue is ethnic, but Muslims issue is only religious and it is sensitive. This issue should be resolved urgently or it would cause 1,000 Zahrans to emerge. Some may charge that I have been bribed by Muslims to say these things but I could not care less.”
