The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has written to the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) requesting him to remove the acting Medical Superintendent (MS) of Akkaraipattu Base Hospital, and hold an enquiry into the allegations levelled against him by the Akkaraipattu Base Hospital branch of the GMOA.

The GMOA has said the MS continues to harass medical officers and his behaviour is unprofessional. It has informed DGHS that it will resort to a one-day strike on 08 July unless their request is complied with.

MS Dr. I. M. Javahir, contacted for comment, denied the allegations and said there wasn’t any charge against him, and those allegations were made against him at the instigation of some local political and religious elements and he had officially informed the relevant authorities of the true situation.
