The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) yesterday urged the President, Prime Minister and Party leaders not to appoint corrupt invididuals as members of the interim government.

GMOA Secretary, Dr. Senal Fernando said that the country was currently facing an unprecedented social, economic, health and political crisis. The people under duress due to the current economic downturn, foreign exchange crisis, high inflation, health and energy crisis, are engaged in a struggle against the current government and the entire political system,” he said.

Dr. Fernando added that the main objective of the people’s struggle was to create a system where the government could be held accountable and responsible to the people.
