Published

on

The Sri Lankan Electronics Industry which has hitherto been largely an assembly industry centered around turning out of electronics components reached a historic milestone when Tos Lanka Co. (Pvt) Ltd., a section 17 fully Japanese owned BOI Enterprise in commercial operations for over 26 years in the BOI Zone in Biyagama exported an Electronic Device which adds a new dimension for security surveillance globally.

Around 2 years ago Tos Lanka was privileged to welcome a young Swedish female Entrepreneur accompanied by her father, a reputed Swedish Engineer interested in introducing a Security Device which is part of a woman’s outerwear emitting a security alert whenever a woman is in distress.

This was a new experience for Sri Lankan Electronics in general and for Tos Lanka in particular.

Initially the Company searched for an external R&D partner and after several mission failures, the company was privileged to establish a relationship with the prestigious Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies in Moratuwa.

Over a two-year period, the Swedish partner, Tos Lanka team and the Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies worked relentlessly on this R&D initiative. The CEO of Arthur C. Clarke Institute, Sanath Panawennage and his dedicated team of R&D specialists worked through the difficult days of Covid- 19 to comply with stringent quality requirements of it’s discerning Swedish partner. Engineer Janaki Athuraliya and Engineer Rajit Gihara contributed tirelessly for the success of this project avidly partnered by Tos Lanka team lead by Melani Rajakaruna, Thushara Dharmawardhana and Dexter Fernando who were abled to come up with a final product supported by a reputed App Developer EFutures Private Limited and Nordtex (Pvt.) Ltd. specialised in Smart wear.

Over this long and tortuous journey, all who partnered this project in Sri Lanka were able to create history in Sri Lankan Electronics by launching this product in the Swedish market on a commercial basis proving the old maxim that “where there is a will there is always a way”

Sri Lankan Electronics with this bold endeavour has proven to the world its intrinsic capability of meeting the highest global standards demanded by the sophisticated quality discerning customers in Sweden, paving the way for a giant leap forward for Sri Lankan Electronics recording a milestone for Sri Lankan Electronics Manufacturing from Laboratory to the Global Market.
