GL: Govt. has received 950 proposals to improve education system

Education Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris says the government has received over 950 proposals for improving the education system in the country.

Addressing a gathering at Temple Trees chaired by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prof Peiris recently said that teachers, school  principals and religious leaders were among those who had responded to their call for proposals to improve the education sector.

The Education Minister said that the government intended to submit those proposals to the stakeholders of the private sector who provide employment to the youth. Commenting on the proposals received, the former External Affairs Minister Prof. Peiris underscored the need to improve the proficiency in languages, particularly English.
