GCE O/L and A/L classes to recommence today

The GCE O/L and A/L classes in schools across the country would commence today, the Ministry of Education said. Minister of Education, Dinesh Gunawardena said that classrooms used by Grade 10,11, 12 and 13 students had all been cleaned over the weekend.

He added that primary classes had already recommenced and only Grades Six to nine remain closed.

“We are vaccinating students. Almost all the elderly students have been vaccinated. We will start the other grades as soon as possible, too,” he said.

The Minister added that principals had been instructed to ensure that students washed their hands, wore masks, and maintained physical distancing.

“Everyone now knows what to do. If everyone does their part, I don’t think there will be a problem,” he said.
