Ganuka, Lithum, Baasith get Sri Lanka off to winning start

Ganuka Fernando, Lithum Jayabandu and Baasith Cader gave the hosts a winning start as they won their respective matches for Sri Lanka to remain unbeaten against Mongolia in the fourteen and under ITF World Junior Tennis Competition Asia /Oceania Per -qualifying Round 2022 at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts on Monday.

Ganuka and Lithum won their respective singles matches before the former joined Baasith Cader to win the doubles match.

Ganuka beat Mandakh Davaadash (Mongolia) 6-1,6-1 before Lithum scored a 6-2, 6-0 win against Sonompuntsag Enkhjargal in the second singles match.

In the doubles match Ganuka and Baasith beat Sonompuntsag Enkhjargal and Zolbay ar Ganbold 6-3, 6-3.

Sri Lanka boys’ team will meet Pakistan today while the girls’ team encounter Singapore or Mongolia today.

A total of 13 boys’ teams and nine girls’ teams are taking part in this qualifying round. The tournament which commenced on Monday will conclude on February 19.
