Gang attacks State Minister’s house allegedly looking for his son

Unknown persons on Sunday (18) night caused extensive damages to State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera’s house in Pamunuwila.

Police said that at the time of the attack only a watcher had been present. The attackers smashed the windows of the ground floor.

According to the watcher, the group entered the house demanding to know the whereabouts of the Minister’s son, Venuka.

State Minister Ranaweeera said he had left home around 9.00 pm to go to his mother’s house in Malabe. He said he had been living in Malabe since his residence at Hunupitiya was destroyed by protesters last year.

The Minister said that he had rushed to his house on being informed of the attackto obtain a CCTV footage. He said his son was living overseas.

Sapugaskanda police are conducting further investigations.
