‘Galle Marvels’ and ‘Moratu Marvels’ launched in grand style

Sri Lanka’s capital witnessed the launch of the newly announced franchise of the Lanka Premier League fifth  edition for the region of Galle named ‘Galle Marvels’ at the Shangrila Colombo.

Sports Minister Harin Fernando, Chairman of – Tournament Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket Samantha Dodanwela, IPG Group Founder and CEO – Anil Mohan, legendary cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya along with some star cricketers and members of the executive committee of SLC attended the launch.

The event was hosted by the owners of ‘Galle Marvels’ Prem Thakkar, Malav Patel, Neil Patel, and Himanshu Patel, to reveal the logo, the official jersey and the theme song.

They also announced that former South African all-rounder Lance Klusener as the Head Coach and the signing of foreign icon player Alex Hales from England.

‘Moratu Marvels’, the second franchise from the same owners for the upcoming inaugural Lanka T10 League which is scheduled to be held in December 2024 was launched simultaneously. ‘Moratu Marvels’ will be coached by Master Blaster Sanath Jayasuriya.

The team songs for both franchises have been penned by Sri Lanka’s greatest ODI fast bowler Lasith Malinga.The franchise owners also expressed their plans to promote the game at grass-root level in Galle and Moratuwa.
