Gajendrakumar calls upon Tamils to boycott next presidential election

Leader of the Tamil People’s National Front, Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam, has urged Tamils to boycott the next Sri Lankan presidential election and show their distrust in the electoral system.

Ponnambalam has said that voting at the presidential election will be tantamount to an acceptance of the system.

The TNPF’s leader’s position is in sharp contrast to the leader of the Tamil Makkal Thesiya Kuttani (TMTK) party retired Supreme Court Justice C.V. Wigneswaran, who has publicly announced his intention to participate in the upcoming Presidential election.Wigeneswaran warns that an election boycott will be detrimental to the interest of the Tamils.
