Fun-filled happenings …Down Under
Suzi is known for her cheerfulness and the Sri Lankans, Down Under, enjoyed what she dished out on stage, not only in song but also her witty comments, especially about the Burghers…and she happens to be one!
Suzi says she met up with all her Burgher friends, who were her classmates, neighbours, etc., in the good old days, back in Sri Lanka.
“The Burgher crowd was awesome and I truly had a rollicking good time with them. I met so many friends, and partied, too, when I was not on stage.”
Suzi mentioned Fione Muller Perera – originally from the Bambalapitiya Flats, and now living in Melbourne – saying she and her husband came for all her performances, and house parties, too.
Says Fione: “It was a cold and rainy but this girl brought sunshine to Melbourne, and I was meeting Suzi after almost 40 years. Such a bubbly personality. Beautiful friendship forever.”
With not-stop partying, while in Australia, Suzi’s health suffered a bit.
“I was sick for 14 days with a bad sore throat, by coughing, but yet I was able to rock Melbourne and I’m glad my tour turned out to be a memorable success.
“Believe me, it was my first overseas assignment, outside Switzerland, in 25 years, and I loved every minute of it.”
“I felt like a diva there, although I’m not one. It was like playing cricket on home grounds; you have the whole crowd with you, and that’s so awesome. I’m so happy.”
Suzi’s main event was the Country and Western Night at Gaelic Park in Keysborough, where a large, and appreciative crowd, went home with happy memories of a wonderful evening of entertainment.
Another plus factor is that Suzi’s repertoire is also totally different to other artistes.
She had many bouquets coming her way, on social media, and this is one such comment:
“It was great to catch up with you after so many years. You rocked Melbourne.
“On a personal note, you are the most humblest, non-judgmental person I have ever met. Your simplicity is just amazing.
“Thanks for entertaining us both on stage and off stage.
“Hoping to see you back here again soon.”
Suzi says she already has offers, coming her way, for 2024, adding that she would plan out her programme by January next year.
