No decision had been taken to suspend the National Fuel Pass QR system from April 10, Power and Energy Minister, Kanchana Wijesekera, said yesterday.

The Power and Energy Minister said it had been claimed, in some quarters, that the QR system would be suspended in April. He said the suspension of the rationing system would take a few months, probably three to four months.

The fuel quota issued under the QR code system will be gradually increased, Wijesekera said.

“NFP data will be analysed to increase the quotas allocated. Decisions on the system will be taken in consultation with the Finance Ministry, and other stakeholders, in the next few months”, WIjesekera said in a twitter message. (IN)
