Fuel price hikes: Principals and teachers to fall sick on Monday

General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Teachers Union Joseph Stalin said yesterday that all principals and teachers countrywide would resort to a sick-note campaign next Monday (25) in protest against the escalating fuel prices.

Stalin said that principals and teachers were unable to bear the skyrocketing price of fuel and had to spend long hours in queues to buy essentials. He said that student attendance too had dropped drastically.

Stalin also said that principals and teachers unions would support the general strike scheduled to commence next Thursday (28).
