President Gotabaya Rajapaksa cutting the ribbon to former President Maithripala Sirisena and Chinese Ambassador in Sri Lanka Qui Zhenhong open the Friendship National Nephrology Specialised Hospital in Polonnaruwa yesterday morning. The hospital was constructed in 30 months on a full grant from the Chinese government at a cost of Rs. 12,000 million. The state-of-the art hospital consists of five operating theatres with modern facilities for kidney transplants where 200 patients could be accommodated at a time. It has 20 beds in its intensive care unit and a dialysis unit equipped 100 machines, a clinic complex for kidney patients with fully-equipped laboratories, radiation and CT scan services, besides an auditorium.
