Four National Schools for Hambantota District

The Education Ministry has decided to develop four schools in Angunakolapelessa and Weeraketiya as National Schools under the programme to establish 1,000 such schools.
Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera yesterday said a meeting of the District Development Committee had been held at the Hambantota District Secretariat recently and was attended by Minister Chamal Rajapaksa as well as officials of the Education Ministry and the Hambantota District Secretary.
The Environment Minister requested that steps be taken to develop four schools belonging to the Angunukolapelessa and Weeraketiya Divisional Development Committees.
Accordingly, Kotawaya Maha Vidyalaya, Thalawa Maha Vidyalaya and Udayala Maha Vidyalaya that belong to the Angunukolapelessa Regional Development Committee and D.A. Rajapaksa Maha Vidyala in Weeraketiya will be developed as National Schools.
Amaraweera also said steps would be taken to provide all MoH Offices and Family Health Service Officers in the Hambantota District with necessary assistance in battling the Covid-19 pandemic.
