Four Indian trawlers arrested while poaching, along with 21 fishers

The Navy on Wednesday (06) apprehended four Indian trawlers with 21 fishers poaching in Sri Lankan waters off Mannar and off Kovilan, Kankesanthurai.

The apprehended fishers and trawlers (04) were brought to the Talaimannar Pier and Kankesanthurai harbour and handed over to the Talaimannar and Jaffna Fisheries Inspectors for legal action. Since January 1, this year altogether 31 trawlers and 195 Indian fishers have been arrested, a senior navy official said.
