Four arrested with a scanner searching for gold buried by LTTE

Police STF commandos have nabbed four people who were carrying a state-of-the-art scanning machine to search for gold, money and weapons allegedly hidden by the LTTE during the war in Mahaviru area of Kanakapuram in Kilinochchi.

The raid was conducted on the information received by the Kilinochchi camp of the Special Task Force and the STF officers arrested the four persons transporting the scanner in a car and seized their equipment.

Among the seized goods are German-made antennas, batteries, battery chargers, scanners including parts. A modern car was also found in the possession of these suspects and taken into police custody.

The four suspects aged between 30 and 58, are residents of Madampe, Kandy, Naththandiya and, Middeniya.The suspects have been handed over to Kilinochchi Police Station for further investigation.
