Foreshore police make one million rupee heroin bust

Sleuths of the Foreshore Police Station raided a three storeyed luxury house at Bakerywatte in Thotalanga yesterday and took into custody a stock of heroin with a street value of one million rupees, two ivory tusks and Rs 250,000 in cash, suspected to have been earned from heroin sales.
A suspect was taken into custody. He has divulged that he received the drugs from a woman currently being held in the Dumbara prison.
The house had been locked, but the raiders climbed over the parapet wall, Police said, adding that two other suspects had escaped. Their identities had been established with the help of information elicited from the suspect in custody and operations were underway to nab them, police said.
The suspect and drugs in custody would be produced before court today (09), police said.
The Foreshore police are conducting further investigations.
