Foreigners living here make impassioned appeal for suitable vaccine
Foreign residents here are in a dilemma as they cannot receive the vaccines approved by their home countries. They ask for Morderna or Pfizer vaccines.
Some foreign passport holders told The Island they had been informed that they receive only the Sinopharm vaccine as Pfizer and Moderna were meant for Sri Lankans going abroad for studies or employment.
They said the UN and the World Health Organization mission in Colombo should intervene on behalf of those who had chosen
Sri Lanka as their home. They said people were quite surprised by the Army going to the extent of sending teams to vaccinate those finding it difficult to visit vaccination centres. “We sincerely hope our appeal will receive the attention of those handling the vaccination campaign,” one of the affected persons said.
