Five TPA MPs abstained – Mano
Vote on IMF agreement:
The Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) abstained at the vote on the Resolution for the implementation of the arrangement under the EFF (Extended Fund Facility) of the IMF (international Monetary Fund) during its vote on 28 April.
TPA leader Mano Ganeshan said that five TPA MPs, including him, were not in the chamber at the time the vote was taken.
Colombo District MP Ganeshan said that one of the TPA MPs, Arvind Kumar, switched allegiance to the then government, ahead of the vote on the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, in Oct 2020. “Badulla District MP Arvind Kumar was sacked from the TPA,” MP Ganeshan said, adding that their decision to skip the vote on the IMF agreement was in line with their MoU with the SJB. The MP acknowledged that all TPA parties contested the last general election on the SJB ticket (SF)
