Tribute to Australia’s
Sri Lankans, Down Under, are certainly an active lot, especially when it comes to music.
Nalin Jayawardena, from Perth, Western Australia, has come up with a unique creation – a tribute song to the First Nation’s People in Australia.
In a letter to the Australian Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Nalin says:
“As a migrant, who has benefited and enjoyed the hospitality of this country (Australia), we have noted, and recognized, the struggle that the First Nation’s People encounter and are in full support for any actions that you are going to take to make sure they are supported and represented, through your voice in Parliament.”
According to Nalin, the tribute song was written and produced to encourage the Sri Lankan community, in Australia, to become the voice to support Indigenous Australians.
The song, written by Lakshman Kodituwakku (Sydney), features Nalin Jayawardena (from Perth), in the vocal spotlight.
Sangeeth Wickramasingha (Sri Lanka) composed the music and did the arrangements, as well, while the English translation of the song was done by Vicumpriya Perera (USA).
