Fire at Kandana chemical factory kills worker

80 persons treated for toxic smoke inhalation

One person was killed in a fire that broke out at a chemical factory in the Kandana police area yesterday (8).

Police identified the victim as an employee of the factory. He had worked as an accountant.

Sri Lanka Air Force deployed firefighting trucks to douse the fire.

More than 80 persons including about 20 students from a school in Kandana received treatment after being exposed toxic fumes emanating from the burning factory. (NP)
