Field Marshal wants all riff-raff out of Parliament

Gampaha District SJB MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka told Parliament yesterday that though the country was in turmoil most of the MPs in the House had not yet understood the gravity of the crisis.

“We know that some government politicians still do not understand the seriousness of the problems the people are confronted with. ‘Gota go home’ is only a slogan and it does not mean that only Gota should go. He should definitely go home but not alone; he has go with all the cronies and henchmen. They are finding scapegoats to stay in power. We should not fall for that trick again. All those who nurtured this system of rogue politics should go home. People in the streets shout that there are narcotic dealers, sand miners, illicit fellers, bar licence owners in the garb of MPs. This House should be rid of those undesirables.

“We are with the people in the streets demanding justice against corrupt politicians. Their demands should be met. We wish all the best for the people’s uprising and it is our hope that they will lead their struggle to victory and stop at nothing but making this government go home,” Field Marshal Fonseka said.
